The Best beers for the Beer Diet
Ok, so today I found a list of the "best" beers for you. I don't agree with the list much, because the list was ranked by the number of calories per 12 oz beer. I mean, if I poured water into a bottle and called it beer, it would have 0 calories and be #1 on the list. So basically, it would taste like Michelob Light.
Actually, Michelob Light isn't the worst offender of trading alcohol content for less calories. The worst would be MGD 64, which has only 64 calories, but only 2.8% alcohol as well. That makes it #1 on "their" list, but not top 10 on mine. Because anyone that enjoys beer knows you can't throw every beer into one category. You have to have the best Lager, Light Lager, Ale, IPA, etc.
So, without further ado, I'm going to list beers not by calories or carbs, but by carbs per alcohol percentage... (MGD 64 and Mic Ultra disqualified)
1. Bud Select .69 carbs/alcohol content (carbs:3, ac:4.3%)
2. Miller Lite .71 (3, 4.2)
3. Becks Light 1.05 (4, 3.8)
4. Coors Light 1.19 (5, 4.2)
5. Bud Light 1.7 (7, 4.2)
The best non-lagers (of the ones they listed):
1. Guinness Extra Stout 2.3 (14, 6.0)
2. Blue Moon 2.4 (13, 5.4)
3. Sam Adams Winter 2.4 (14, 5.8) (ok, it's a lager, but honestly...)
4. Redhook ESB 2.4 (14, 5.8)
5. Guinness Draught 2.5 (10, 4.0)
So whether you go for taste or low carb, those are your best choices....
